Natalie Portman Announces Third Pregnancy and Heightened Senses

Actress Natalie Portman is expecting her third child, the first with French musician and producer Tangi Destabel. She says her sense of smell has become unusually acute during pregnancy, noting that she detected a gas leak at a restaurant that others did not notice. Portman describes the experience as a natural warning system and likens the pregnancy to a "cleansing" because she avoids alcohol, caffeine and follows a vegan diet while staying physically active, taking vitamins and getting plenty of sleep.

The 45‑year‑old, who moved from the United States to France years ago, was previously married to choreographer Benjamin Millepied, with whom she has a son, Aleph, and a daughter, Amelia. Their divorce was finalized in 2024. Portman highlighted differences between French public‑health guidelines and U.S. private‑sector practices for prenatal testing, noting that both systems are competent but vary in recommended procedures.
