Acclaimed British author Rachel Cusk is facing speculation that her upcoming novel, ‘Life of M’, is heavily inspired by the life and career of actress Natalie Portman. The book, scheduled for release on August 27, follows an unnamed writer documenting the life of a world-famous movie star named M.

Critics and readers have noted striking similarities between the character M and Portman, including M’s history as a child actor in a European film, her residence in Paris, and her role in a film about ballet, which many interpret as a reference to Portman’s Oscar-winning performance in ‘Black Swan’.

Reports indicate that Portman is ‘annoyed’ by the similarities. While the two have previously shared a public connection—with Portman once calling Cusk one of her favorite writers—sources close to the actress suggest their relationship is not close. One publishing source alleged that Cusk ‘steals from people’s lives and mines acquaintances’ as part of her writing process.
