Natasha Osawaru declares ambition to become President of Nigeria

Natasha Osawaru, the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly representing Egor Constituency, has declared her ambition to become the President of Nigeria. The announcement was made during a celebration for her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, on his 92nd birthday in Benin City.

Osawaru expressed her desire to reach the nation’s highest political office during her grandfather’s lifetime, stating her intention to make him proud through her political career.

Osawaru, who is married to musician Innocent Idibia (known as 2Baba), recently transitioned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in May 2026. She assumed her role as Minority Leader in August 2026 following a reshuffling of the Assembly’s leadership positions.
