Natasha Osawaru named Edo State House of Assembly Minority Leader
Natasha Osawaru, the representative for Egor Constituency, has been named the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly. The announcement was made during a plenary session in Benin City following a reshuffle of the Assembly’s principal leadership positions.
Osawaru, who is married to Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia (known as 2Baba), holds this position under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party in May 2026. She previously served as the Deputy Majority Leader and has focused her legislative work on youth and women empowerment, grassroots development, and parliamentary debate.
As Minority Leader, Osawaru is expected to serve as a leading opposition voice, tasked with scrutinizing government policy and coordinating her caucus. Her new role shifts her public profile from celebrity-related interest toward a more formal political platform centered on legislative accountability and constituency service.
