This Is Lorelei releases bluegrass-pop album ‘The Singer in My Band’

Nate Amos, performing under the moniker This Is Lorelei, has released a new album titled ‘The Singer in My Band’ via Matador Records. The project marks a shift toward a bluegrass-influenced pop sound, drawing on Amos’s musical heritage.

While Amos is also recognized as a member of the art-pop duo Water From Your Eyes, this solo effort emphasizes melodic songwriting and acoustic elements, including banjo and twangy guitars. The album features contributions from Amos’s family, including his father, bluegrass musician Bob Amos, who performs on banjo.

Critics note that the album moves away from the more experimental genre-blending found in his previous work, such as ‘Box for Buddy, Box for Star’, in favor of a more direct and accessible songwriting style that incorporates influences ranging from The Byrds to The Magnetic Fields.
