Nathalie Pohl swims 200km from Frankfurt to Cologne

Extreme swimmer Nathalie Pohl is undertaking a 200-kilometer swimming challenge from Frankfurt to Cologne through the Main and Rhine rivers. The initiative aims to raise awareness for the importance of swimming lessons for children and has already raised over 85,000 euros in donations.

Pohl is swimming in shifts, alternating with other open-water swimmers every two hours. The journey has faced several challenges, including extremely low water levels in the Rhine, which have impacted water quality and navigation for many ship classes. Additionally, Pohl had to bypass certain sections, such as the Loreley area, due to strong currents and a lack of swimming permits.

Despite the physical strain and environmental factors like warm water and algae, Pohl is expected to reach her destination in Cologne on Friday afternoon.
