Nathan De Cat faces difficult start at Hoffenheim

Nathan De Cat is experiencing a difficult start at Hoffenheim following his approximately 18 million euro transfer from Anderlecht. Despite being signed as one of Belgium's top talents, the 18-year-old midfielder has struggled to secure consistent playing time in the Bundesliga.

While De Cat made a positive impression during the pre-season, including an assist in a cup match against Erzgebirge Aue, his transition to the German league has been challenging. He has primarily served as a substitute in matches against FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund, and was unable to break into the lineup against Stuttgart and Paderborn. Although he earned a starting position in a Europa League match against OFI Kreta, tactical changes by coach Christian Ilzer prevented him from finding his rhythm in a 2-0 loss.

Reports suggest that De Cat is adjusting to the higher physical intensity and tempo of the Bundesliga. Currently, Ilzer appears to favor more experienced players such as Leon Avdullahu and Wouter Burger. The upcoming international break offers the midfielder an opportunity to regain rhythm with the Belgian youth national team.
