Nathan Fillion pursues animated Firefly revival

Actor Nathan Fillion has reaffirmed his commitment to bringing an animated continuation of the series ‘Firefly’ to life. While the project faces delays, Fillion stated he has no intention of giving up, citing significant fan support as a primary motivator.

The proposed animated project is being developed by Collision33 and 20th Television Animation, with Marc Guggenheim and Tara Butters serving as creative leads. The story is intended to bridge the gap between the original series and the film ‘Serenity’, allowing the original cast to return. Planned voice talent includes Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and Adam Baldwin.

Despite having a defined story, creative team, and cast, the project’s primary obstacle remains securing a distribution platform willing to fund and host the series more than two decades after the original show's conclusion.
