Nathan Mariano undergoes knee surgery, missing NBB season

Brazilian basketball prospect Nathan Mariano has undergone surgery to reconstruct his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. The procedure, which included a rectofemoral graft, anterolateral reinforcement, and lateral meniscus suturing, took place last Friday at Hospital Alvorada de Moema. The surgery was led by Dr. Carlos Andreoli, the medical director of the Brazilian Confederation and physician for Esporte Clube Pinheiros.

Due to the injury, Mariano is expected to be sidelined for at least the next nine months, missing the remainder of the NBB season. He has already been discharged and has begun rehabilitation with the Esporte Clube Pinheiros physiotherapy team, focusing on pain management, range of motion, and strengthening.

Mariano, a native of Franca and brother of player Lucas Mariano, previously played for Sesi Franca and most recently competed in the G-League for the Valley Suns. He currently plays for Esporte Clube Pinheiros.
