Nathan Ogbatue faces scrutiny over $34M Medicaid surge and luxury real estate

Nathan Ogbatue, the CEO of California Home Health Agency (CHHA), is under scrutiny following a massive surge in Medicaid revenue that coincided with significant real estate acquisitions. Between 2018 and 2021, CHHA received less than $2 million in Medicaid funds; however, the company reportedly raked in more than $34 million over the following three years.

This spike in taxpayer-funded revenue aligns with a period where Ogbatue and his wife, Agnes, acquired over $7 million in property between 2023 and 2024. Their real estate portfolio includes a $2.7 million mansion in Riverside, a $1.9 million beach house, and other multimillion-dollar properties. In Nigeria, Ogbatue is celebrated as a philanthropist and a chief in Abatete, where he reportedly funded the construction of a grand palace.

Investigations into CHHA’s compliance revealed that the agency has not submitted required utilization reports to California’s Health Care Access and Information department since 2019, despite repeated requests. While Ogbatue has been hailed on social media for his community contributions in Nigeria, experts noted that the company’s billing numbers have raised major red flags.
