Nathan Opoku joins Northampton Town from Leicester City
Ghanaian striker Nathan Opoku has joined Northampton Town from Leicester City on a three-year contract. The move, involving an undisclosed fee, marks the 25-year-old forward's tenth addition to the League One side this summer.
Opoku, a former Syracuse University player who helped the team win an NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Championship, brings experience from Leicester City, a loan spell at Belgian club OH Leuven, and a recent stint at Newport County. During his time at Newport, he finished as the club’s leading scorer with six goals in 16 starts.
Opoku expressed readiness to contribute to the team, noting that he feels ‘fit, excited and ready to go’ following a period of recovery from a significant injury. The transfer remains subject to work permit approval.
