Nathaniel Méndez-Laing faces assault charges in England
Guatemalan footballer Nathaniel Méndez-Laing, currently playing for MK Dons, appeared before the Cannock Magistrates' Court in Staffordshire, England, facing allegations of physical assault against his wife, Saira Méndez-Laing.
The incident reportedly occurred in June at the couple's residence in Shenstone. Prosecutors allege that a dispute regarding a telephone led to the player striking his wife, causing multiple blows to her head and an injury to her arm. Méndez-Laing appeared in court using crutches and denied the allegations, maintaining that no physical assault took place.
District Judge Joseph O’Connor granted the 34-year-old footballer bail with conditions. The case is scheduled to proceed to trial in January. MK Dons stated they cannot comment on an ongoing legal proceeding.
