Nation Media Group reshuffles editorial leadership in East Africa

Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced a major reshuffle of its editorial leadership across East Africa to enhance newsroom integration and support digital transformation.

In Uganda, Dr. Joe Ageyo has been appointed Editor-in-Chief, moving from his previous role as NMG Group Editor-in-Chief. He will be joined by Washington Gikunju, who takes on the role of Acting Managing Editor for NMG Uganda. These appointments follow a period where NMG’s Ugandan operations, including Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda, faced a month-long shutdown by security personnel.

In Kenya, Harry Misiko has been named Acting Editor-in-Chief. Other regional changes include James Smart moving to Tanzania as Acting Managing Editor for Broadcast and New Media at Mwananchi Communications Limited, and Dann Mwangi stepping in as Acting Managing Editor for Broadcast and New Media in Kenya. Group Managing Director and CEO Geoffrey Odundo stated the changes follow a review of the company’s editorial structure and evolving business requirements.
