National 4-H Week celebrates youth leadership and development

National 4-H Week, observed from October 4-10, is highlighting the impact of the youth development program across various regions, including Iowa and Wisconsin. This year’s theme, “Beyond Ready,” focuses on how the organization equips young people with the skills, confidence, and experiences necessary to thrive in a changing world.

In Iowa, the program emphasizes leadership, hands-on learning, and mentorship through diverse areas such as agriculture, STEM, healthy living, and community service. Program leaders note that these experiences help youth develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that prepare them for future careers and civic engagement.

In Wisconsin, participants have utilized the program to build essential life skills, such as public speaking and social leadership. Personal accounts from members highlight how the organization’s projects—ranging from dairy and swine to cultural arts—help build long-term confidence and professional readiness.
