National Alliance members allege potato farmer acted as SPLC informant

Former members of the neo-Nazi group National Alliance allege that Lawrence W. Myers, a 68-year-old potato farmer known as ‘Scary Larry’, acted as an informant. Sources claim Myers was identified in a federal indictment by the pseudonym ‘F-9’ and was allegedly paid $1.2 million from Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) donor funds.

Ex-members suggest Myers maintained close ties to the group while communicating with the FBI and the SPLC. The allegations coincide with a federal indictment against the Alabama-based SPLC, which faces charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering. Prosecutors allege the nonprofit defrauded donors by using over $4 million in contributions to fund the very groups the organization was established to combat.
