National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Leads Greek Admissions, 6,000 New Students

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) secured first place among Greek universities for both the total number of new successful entrants and the number of applicants who listed it as their first choice in the 2026‑2027 admission cycle. EKPA admitted 5,586 new students, accounting for roughly 10% of the 61,614 newcomers recorded across 23 Greek higher‑education institutions.

Because EKPA is the preferred destination for many transfer candidates, the university expects its enrolment to increase further in the coming months. The university’s extensive portfolio of schools and departments spans humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, informatics, education, economics and health sciences. Rector Professor Gerasimos Siassos highlighted the university’s leading position in a public statement.
