National and Kapodistrian University of Athens marks 190th anniversary

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) is celebrating its 190th anniversary of continuous operation. This milestone coincides with the university assuming the Presidency of the Assembly of Rectors of Greek Universities.

University Rector Gerasimos Siasos described the anniversary as a “major historical national milestone” for Greece’s first university, noting its deep connection to the spiritual and cultural development of Hellenism. He highlighted the institution's growing international presence, noting its ranking among the top 200 universities globally.

To further its internationalization, the university continues to expand academic collaborations worldwide and maintains a strategic branch in Cyprus to strengthen regional ties.
