National and Kapodistrian University of Athens to chair 113th Rectors' Conference

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) has assumed the presidency of the 113th Conference of Rectors of Greek Universities, effective September 1, 2026. Under the leadership of Rector Gerasimos Siasos, the university will host the main conference in Athens in February 2027.

In a new initiative to strengthen dialogue among academic leaders, three preparatory sessions will be held in October, November, and December 2026. These meetings, which allow for hybrid participation, aim to produce formal findings to inform the main February summit.

Key topics for discussion include university autonomy, constitutional amendments, new university entrance examination systems, legislative regulations, bureaucracy, demographic challenges affecting higher education, and university funding.
