National Anticorruption Council raises concerns over selective criminal prosecution

The National Anticorruption Council (CNA) has expressed concern regarding selectivity in criminal prosecution, questioning whether justice institutions apply the same rigor across different political sectors.

While the CNA acknowledged the importance of the fiscal request against former deputy Luis Redondo and other members of the Permanent Commission, it warned against a pattern where investigations into certain political groups advance while others remain unresolved. Specific cases cited by the council include the definitive dismissal of former President Juan Orlando Hernández in the Pandora II case, judicial delays in the process against Marco Bográn, and the revocation of the formal indictment against former director David Chávez.

The council also noted the potential return of figures previously linked to corruption allegations, such as Ebal Díaz and Ricardo Cardona, expressing concern over how their return might influence ongoing complaints.
