National Assembly and KCCI launch Economic Leap Committee

The National Assembly and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have launched the ‘National Assembly Economic Leap Committee’ to establish a permanent public-private cooperation platform. Co-chaired by National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik and KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won, the committee aims to accelerate legislative and regulatory reforms by directly incorporating voices from the business sector into the policymaking process.

The committee is organized into three specialized divisions: Industry, Tax/Finance, and Fair Trade/Capital Markets. These divisions will focus on strengthening strategic industry competitiveness, securing future growth engines such as AI, and enhancing capital market vitality. Major South Korean corporations, including Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG, will have CEOs participating as committee members.

During the launch, Chey Tae-won emphasized the need for the National Assembly to reduce domestic variables and unpredictability for businesses, noting that such stability is crucial for companies to execute planned investments amidst an unpredictable international landscape.
