National Asset Recovery Office limits new cases due to capacity

Anna Unger, head of the National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office (NVVH), stated that the agency is not currently taking on new cases due to limited capacity at its current location. The office is operating with approximately thirty investigators and six functional staff members, focusing on four cases transferred from partner authorities.

Unger noted that the agency's capacity is restricted by its current physical workspace, as investigative work cannot be performed remotely. New cases will only be accepted if their urgency warrants it, a decision that would fall to Deputy President Katalin Tasnády.

Additionally, Unger suggested that there may be grounds for investigation regarding payments from public funds, specifically mentioning the Urban Civil Fund and the Bethlen Gábor Fund. The office is also integrating experienced professionals, including prosecutors with up to 25 years of experience, to bolster its investigative capabilities.
