National Asset Recovery Office to announce first four major cases
The National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office (NVVH) is set to announce the first four major cases it is taking over from other authorities on September 28. Anna Unger, head of the office, stated that the agency aims to move beyond individual incidents to uncover systemic corruption patterns used during previous political eras.
Unger identified several areas of interest, including market distortions created through legislation, opaque ownership structures in private capital funds, and overpriced state transactions, such as large-scale office building purchases. The agency will also examine concessions and potential misuse of public funds in various sectors.
Investigation methods will include criminal proceedings and competition law practices, such as using fines for illegal state aid to recover assets. The office intends to focus on identifying recurring patterns of behavior to facilitate broader investigations.
