National Bank Governor Slaveski affirms stability of banking system

National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski has stated that the domestic banking system remains stable and resilient. He emphasized that the central bank continuously monitors bank operations, liquidity, capital positions, and risk exposure on a daily basis.

Slaveski addressed recent media reports regarding cross-border fund transfers, specifically mentioning allegations of capital moving from Serbia abroad. He noted that the National Bank of Serbia has already issued an official statement and declined to comment on unverified claims regarding another country's banking system. Slaveski explained that capital outflows can occur for various reasons, such as seeking higher returns or more favorable investment climates, and that cross-border financial flows are a standard part of modern economic activity.

The quality of domestic supervision has been affirmed by the European Commission, which recognized the equivalence of the local regulatory and supervisory framework with European standards.
