National Bank of Greece to donate and renovate three schools in Ioannina

The Municipal Committee of Ioannina has approved the preliminary acceptance of a donation from the National Bank of Greece involving three historic school properties: Pavlidio, Elisavetio, and Valaneio. These buildings currently house six school units.

This decision marks the first institutional step toward transferring full ownership, possession, and control of the properties to the Municipality of Ioannina, ensuring their permanent public and educational status. Previously, the Municipality held usage rights through a loan agreement with the Ioannina Charitable Stores until 2039.

In addition to the donation, the National Bank of Greece has committed to fully renovating the three school complexes at an estimated cost of approximately 900,000 euros. The specific scope and timeline of the renovations will be determined in collaboration with the Technical Service of the Municipality of Ioannina.
