National Bank of Moldova launches B2B QR code instant payments

The National Bank of Moldova has introduced a new Business-to-Business (B2B) functionality for the MIA Instant Payments system. This update allows companies to execute instant transfers to other legal entities by scanning a QR code directly through their online banking applications.

These transactions are processed immediately, regardless of the time or day, bypassing the traditional operational schedules of banks. The initiative aims to simplify financial operations, reduce processing times, and improve liquidity management for entrepreneurs.

According to Governor Anca Dragu, the evolution of the MIA system supports the digitalization of financial processes and strengthens its role as a modern payment infrastructure. Currently, the MIA system has over one million unique users and more than 12,000 economic agents connected, with over 24,000 payment acceptance points available across Moldova.
