National Bank of Poland issues Halina Konopacka collector coin
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has released a new limited-edition collector coin titled ‘Halina Konopacka – w służbie Ojczyźnie’ (Halina Konopacka – in service of the Fatherland). The coin, which debuted on September 1, 2026, commemorates the legendary Polish athlete and her role in protecting national assets during the German invasion in 1939.
Although the nominal value is 10 PLN, the coin is priced at 360 PLN due to its composition of 999 fine silver. Each coin measures 32 millimeters in diameter and weighs 14.14 grams. The issuance is strictly limited to 8,000 pieces.
The design features Konopacka’s athletic achievements on the reverse, including a laurel wreath and an Olympic stadium track. The obverse depicts historical elements from September 1939, such as gold bars and a city bus, representing the vehicles used to evacuate the national treasury.
