Mexico launches nationwide ‘Puños de Transformación’ boxing initiative

Mexico has launched a nationwide boxing initiative titled ‘Puños de Transformación’ (Fists of Transformation), aimed at promoting physical activity, discipline, and social cohesion. The program, driven by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and CONADE Director Rommel Pacheco, was implemented simultaneously across more than 275 locations and 500 points in all 32 Mexican states.

Participating cities included Puebla, Nuevo Laredo, Morelos, Tijuana, Mérida, Mazatlán, León, and Campeche, among others. The events drew thousands of participants, ranging from children and youth to adults and seniors. Professional boxers and former world champions often led the sessions, providing technical instruction and motivation.

The initiative seeks to use sports as a tool for social transformation, community building, and the prevention of addictions among younger generations. By utilizing public spaces and sports facilities, the government aims to foster healthy lifestyles and strengthen the social fabric through collective physical engagement.
