National Children's Hospital project enters new phase after legal appeal withdrawal

The legal appeal against the Commission for Protection of Competition's decision regarding the public procurement for the National Children's Hospital has been withdrawn. This development marks a new phase for the project, as announced by Health Minister Katya Ivkova.

The new management of the Health Investment Company for the Children's Hospital (ZIKDB) has taken control and requested the termination of the current public procurement process. This decision follows an internal audit and a position from the Commission for Protection of Competition, with the aim of refining the project's technical specifications and scope.

A working group, including experts and representatives from the Public Council, will be established to redefine the project's parameters. The group will utilize reports from the European Investment Bank to guide the hospital's structure. The goal is to complete both the medical facility and its necessary infrastructure within the current mandate, while simultaneously planning for the recruitment of medical specialists.
