National Citizen Party suspends Netrokona leader over fraud allegations

Sadia Akter, the organizational secretary of the Netrokona district committee for the National Citizen Party (NCP), has been temporarily suspended from her position following allegations of fraud. The suspension follows accusations that she collected money from individuals under the pretense of providing ‘Family Cards’.

The NCP central convening committee issued a notice stating the suspension was ordered by central convener Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhter Hossain due to serious breaches of organizational discipline. Akter has been required to submit a written explanation and supporting evidence to the party's central chief organizer for the northern region within three working days.

On September 8, Akter was detained by locals and handed over to the police in the Kurpar area of Netrokona city. A fraud case was subsequently filed by a victim, Priya Akter, at the Netrokona Model Police Station. Following her arrest, a court ordered Akter to be sent to prison on September 9, though she was released on bail on Wednesday.
