National Conference leaders honor Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah

Leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) gathered in Srinagar to mark the 44th death anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the party founder known as ‘Sher-e-Kashmir’. Party president Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led the tributes at the Sheikh’s mausoleum in Naseem Bagh.

NC leaders described Abdullah as a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Jammu and Kashmir. They credited his leadership with dismantling feudal structures, implementing significant land reforms, and championing social justice and political empowerment. The party emphasized his historical decision to align with a secular India rather than following the two-nation theory.

During the commemorations, speakers highlighted Abdullah’s commitment to the dignity of ordinary citizens and his fight against systems of oppression. The gathering served as both a memorial and a political reflection, with leaders stating that his legacy continues to act as a moral and political guide for the party in the current landscape.
