National Congress of Argentine Literatures opens at UNSE

The XXIII National Congress of Argentine Literatures has officially opened at the National University of Santiago del Estero (UNSE). Organized by the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Health, the event gathers researchers, professors, students, and writers from across the country under the theme ‘Under the sign of the multiple: literatures of Argentina, languages, territories, and cultures’.

Writer and essayist Martín Kohan inaugurated the congress with a lecture titled ‘The Words’. During his speech, Kohan addressed the current challenges facing academic and research spaces, describing the present climate as a period of “hostility and explicit contempt” toward the production of knowledge and ideas. He emphasized that participating in such academic exchanges serves as a gesture of resistance against these pressures.

UNSE Rector Marcelino Ledesma and Dean Sandra Moreira highlighted the importance of the university hosting a national event of this scale. They noted that such gatherings reinforce the role of public universities as essential spaces for dialogue, collective construction, and the promotion of higher education and research.
