National Council for Persons with Disabilities inspects Alexandria medical services

The National Council for Persons with Disabilities conducted an inspection tour in Alexandria, Egypt, as part of the ‘Asrati Quwati’ (My Family is My Strength) national initiative. The tour aimed to evaluate the quality of medical and rehabilitation services provided to people with disabilities and to identify the needs of both individuals and their families.

During the visit, the Council delegation inspected the Alexandria General Ophthalmology Hospital, reviewing specialized services for visual impairments, including assessment, rehabilitation, and the availability of optical aids. They also assessed hospital accessibility, such as priority seating and the availability of sign language communication. Discussions focused on digitizing beneficiary data and creating electronic links between health, rehabilitation, and sports services.

The delegation also visited the Early Intervention Center at Al-Raml Children's Hospital. They reviewed various specialized clinics, including therapeutic nutrition, neurological and motor disabilities, speech therapy, learning difficulties, sensory integration, and physical therapy. Dr. Eman Karim, General Supervisor of the Council, stated that these efforts aim to improve service accessibility and support the integration and empowerment of persons with disabilities in alignment with national development goals.
