National Council of Engineers warns of liability risks in reform
During the 70th National Congress of Engineers, the National Council of Engineers (CNI) raised concerns regarding the reform of the regulated professions system. Carla Cappiello, Vice President of the CNI, warned that the removal of the term ‘attribution of skills’ from the current delegating law could create a ‘vacuum of responsibility’ and a ‘free zone’ regarding professional liability.
The CNI is calling for implementing decrees to clearly define the starting point for professional prescription periods to protect both citizens and professionals.
Deputy Minister of Justice Francesco Paolo Sisto stated that the reform is in an advanced stage, having already been approved by one branch of Parliament, and is expected to move to the second branch. He noted the reform aims to modernize regulations that may currently hinder the growth of professions such as engineering.
