National Cultural Fund investigation: Suspect detention measures change

The criminal investigation into the National Cultural Fund (NKA) has seen a shift in detention measures. According to the Bács-Kiskun County Chief Prosecutor's Office, while there are still seven suspects in the case, only three remain in custody. Four suspects have been released from detention and placed under criminal supervision.

The investigation was launched by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) following allegations of breach of trust causing financial damage exceeding 17 billion forints. The probe centers on the controversial distribution of state subsidies in the months leading up to the elections.

Regarding the seizure of political assets, authorities confirmed that the obligation to preserve electronic data for Fidesz servers remains in effect. While the physical devices were returned, the party is prohibited from using them. This follows political disputes regarding the legality of the prosecution's seizure of party databases and membership registries.
