ÖSYM to hold equivalent exam for 392 KPSS candidates in Şanlıurfa

The Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) has decided to hold an equivalent exam for 392 candidates following irregularities during the 2026 KPSS Undergraduate General Ability-General Culture session held on September 6.

The issues occurred at the Osmanbey Campus of Harran University in Şanlıurfa. On the morning of the exam, a traffic accident and roadwork reduced the access road to a single lane, making it difficult for many candidates to reach the exam buildings. In response to requests from the local ÖSYM coordination office, authorities extended the entry period by 30 minutes and delayed the start time to 10:45 to prevent widespread hardship.

Following the exam, ÖSYM launched an investigation involving interviews with officials and a detailed review of camera footage and hall minutes. The investigation revealed that non-compliant practices occurred in 22 out of 150 exam halls at the campus, affecting 392 candidates. To ensure equality of opportunity, the ÖSYM Board of Directors ruled on September 15 that these specific candidates will be permitted to take an equivalent exam.
