Poland celebrates National Education Day with awards and ceremonies

Across various municipalities in Poland, National Education Day was observed through numerous ceremonies, award presentations, and student rituals. Local governments and school administrations used the occasion to honor teachers, directors, and staff for their dedication to teaching and student development.

In cities such as Tychy, Biała Podlaska, and Sulejów, officials presented awards to educators for their professional achievements. In other regions like Konie, Buk, and Biłgoraj, local authorities expressed gratitude for the role of educators in shaping the younger generation. Some celebrations included religious services, such as a sanctuary mass in Licheń, while others featured student-led artistic performances and film chronicles.

Beyond awards, the holiday marked significant milestones for students, including first-grade swearing-in ceremonies in Kamion, Walim, and Busko-Zdrój. Regarding the legal status of the day, it is noted that while October 14 is a day free from standard lessons under the Teacher's Charter, it is not a statutory day off from work for educators, who may still participate in school ceremonies and organizational duties.
