National Energy Efficiency Olympiad opens registration for 2026

Registration is now open for the 5th edition of the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad (ONEE) 2026. Organized by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) and coordinated by the Abradee Institute, the initiative aims to promote conscious energy consumption, sustainability, and natural resource preservation among students.

In a new development for this edition, the competition has expanded its target audience. In addition to students in the 8th and 9th grades of elementary school, students in the 1st and 2nd years of high school from both public and private networks are now eligible to participate.

The competition features two main phases: gamified digital challenges focused on sustainability and safety, followed by an objective theoretical exam. Participants can earn gold, silver, and bronze medals. Top-performing students in each state are eligible for prizes including notebooks and an all-expenses-paid trip to Brasília to participate in the Olympic Week. Outstanding teachers will also be recognized with trips to the national award ceremony in Brasília.

Institutions must register through the official portal by September 15. The program is supported by partners such as the utility company Light.
