Vietnam seeks leading enterprises to boost economic competitiveness

Experts suggest that Vietnam needs leading enterprises to enhance its national economic competitiveness. By examining global models, analysts highlight how major corporations act as strategic levers for national strength.

In South Korea, companies like Samsung and LG have driven industrial and technological advancement. China utilizes giants such as Huawei, Tencent, and Alibaba to lead in telecommunications, digital ecosystems, and e-commerce. Germany relies on industrial leaders like Siemens, Volkswagen, and SAP to maintain its global brand and support vast supply chains.

These leading firms do more than generate revenue; they drive research and development (R&D), set industry standards, and create demand for thousands of satellite businesses. To replicate this success, experts emphasize the importance of proactive long-term policies, stable business environments, and support for international market expansion.

Regarding the digital sector, Vietnam has shown progress with domestic platforms like Zalo. While many digital services in the country are currently provided by foreign entities, the development of local messaging and OTT platforms indicates growing domestic capability in the digital economy.
