National Film Authority receives GH₵20 million seed fund

The National Film Authority (NFA) has confirmed the receipt of a GH₵20 million film seed fund. James Gardiner, the NFA Deputy Executive Secretary, noted that while the funds have arrived, the total financial demand from industry players has exceeded GH₵99 million.

The NFA plans to manage the funds through a committee that includes an investment banker to ensure judicious use. Rather than distributing the entire amount as grants, the authority intends to combine direct support with investments designed to generate returns and replenish the fund through a revolving mechanism.

In related discussions regarding the industry's growth, Gardiner emphasized that the commercial success of Ghanaian cinema should not be limited by the country's population size. He argued that high-quality films can achieve international reach if supported by a strong local ecosystem and audience appreciation.
