National First Responders Day promotions and charity initiatives

National First Responders Day on October 28 features various commercial discounts and charitable efforts to honor emergency personnel and healthcare workers.

Several restaurant chains are offering specific deals for the occasion. TGI Fridays is providing 50% off entrees with a $10 purchase for dine-in customers, while Ford’s Garage is offering a free burger or entree up to $16. Ruby Tuesday is providing a free Garden Bar entrée, and Sonny’s BBQ is offering a free Pork Big Deal via ID.me verification. Other participating brands include Dave & Buster’s, Outback Steakhouse, Smashburger, and RaceTrac.

Retailers such as Academy Sports + Outdoors and Asics are also providing discounts on apparel and footwear.

In the food service sector, Firehouse Subs is launching a limited-edition K-9 Crew collection. The company will sell three plush dogs modeled after real-life working K-9s, with 100% of net profits benefiting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Additionally, the chain will donate 100% of the purchase price of every Hook & Ladder sandwich sold on October 28 to the same foundation.
