National Football Foundation names record 206 Campbell Trophy semifinalists

The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame has announced a record 206 semifinalists for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy. This marks the largest group in the award's 37-year history, surpassing the previous record of 204 set in 2024.

The Campbell Trophy is considered college football’s premier scholar-athlete award, recognizing individuals for their combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership. The semifinalists represent every NCAA division and the NAIA, maintaining a collective average GPA of 3.64. The group includes 130 team captains, 24 All-Americans, and 98 players who have already earned undergraduate degrees.

Selected semifinalists include athletes from various institutions such as Baylor, Columbia, Holy Cross, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Air Force, Texas, and Tennessee. The NFF will announce 12 to 16 finalists on October 21. Each finalist will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, with the ultimate winner receiving an increased scholarship of $25,000 during the annual awards dinner in Las Vegas on December 8.
