National football teams manage player absences and injuries

National football teams are managing player availability during the current FIFA international window.

Peru coach Mano Menezes addressed the absence of Oliver Sonne from the squad for the friendly against Colombia. Menezes clarified that Sonne is not injured, stating, “No, tiene nada” (No, he has nothing). The decision to return the player to England was a planned measure to manage his minutes and prevent potential injury by alternating his participation across scheduled matches.

Uruguay is facing several absences ahead of their friendly against India. Defender Mathías Olivera has left the squad due to a muscle injury in the groin area to recover with his club, Napoli. Additionally, Giorgian de Arrascaeta is sidelined for six to eight weeks following successful surgery on a fractured left wrist. Sebastián Cáceres has also been released due to pubic discomfort, while Brian Rodríguez was unable to join the delegation due to visa-related passport issues.
