National Gallery Prague to exhibit Egon Schiele drawings
The National Gallery Prague is hosting a limited-time exhibition of works by Egon Schiele at the Trade Fair Palace to commemorate the institution's 230th anniversary.
Due to the fragility of paper works and the risk of fading or yellowing from light exposure, the drawings will only be displayed for short intervals. The iconic drawing ‘Seated Woman with Bent Knees’ (1917), which depicts Schiele’s wife, Edith Harmsova, will be on view from September 24 until October 11. This piece was recently featured at the Leopold Museum in Vienna and has also been used as a face for the National Gallery's anniversary campaign.
Following the display of the portrait of Edith, the gallery will exhibit Schiele’s ‘Self-Portrait’ (1914) for a subsequent 14-day period, running from October 13 to October 25, 2026.
