National Games to be held in Taoyuan City this October

The 2026 National Games are scheduled to take place in Taoyuan City from October 17 to 22. The event will feature 32 competition categories, including new additions such as powerlifting, freediving, aerobic gymnastics, disc golf, and unicycling.

In preparation for the games, Taoyuan City has unveiled eight unique trophies designed to reflect local culture and natural imagery. The trophies were created through a collaboration of various artists, incorporating elements like the Taiwan blue magpie and peach blossoms. The design process utilized traditional techniques such as ‘gold-stitching and silk-dotting’ and featured woodcraft and lighting design to create multi-dimensional works.

In Nantou County, the arrival of the National Games torch at the Nantou County Stadium has signaled the start of local preparations. Nantou is sending a delegation of 508 athletes and coaches to compete in 25 different disciplines, ranging from martial arts and strength sports to water sports and ball games.
