National Geographic docuseries reunites 9/11 survivors

A new National Geographic docuseries, ‘9/11 Reunited’, reunites survivors and rescuers of the September 11 terrorist attacks 25 years after the tragedy. The series features stories of individuals whose lives were irrevocably changed by the attacks on the World Trade Center.

One featured story details how six strangers, including window cleaner Jan Demczur and two Port Authority officials, survived being trapped in an elevator during the North Tower strike. After the elevator plummeted and became stuck near the 50th floor, the group used a brass window squeegee to break through a drywall wall, allowing them to escape into a nearby restroom and eventually flee the building minutes before the tower collapsed.

The documentary also highlights the reunion of survivors like Deborah St. John, who was injured by debris, and the stranger who provided life-saving first aid. The series is a collaboration between National Geographic, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, and 72 Films.
