National Geographic names top beaches in Spain’s Alicante and Huelva provinces

National Geographic has highlighted several beaches in Spain for their natural beauty and visitor appeal. In Alicante province, the magazine singled out Cala Granadella in Xàbia for its turquoise bay surrounded by mountains, pine woods and rocky cliffs, and the island beach of Tabarca for its protected Posidonia seagrass meadows, clear waters and historic village setting.

In Huelva province, three lesser‑known sites were featured: Isla Canela, a seven‑kilometre stretch of white sand near the Guadiana estuary; Los Enebrales in Punta Umbría, a two‑kilometre Blue‑Flag beach framed by a mixed pine‑and‑holm oak forest; and Torre del Loro in Almonte, a four‑kilometre golden‑sand coast within Doñana National Park, noted for its historic watchtower. All locations are praised for activities such as snorkeling, kitesurfing, paddle‑surfing and nature walks.
