National Health Service plans autonomy for 150 hospitals

The National Health Service (SNS) in the Dominican Republic has launched a pilot plan for administrative and financial decentralization. Executive Director Julio Landrón projects that 150 public hospitals will operate with greater autonomy within the next two years.

In coordination with the General Directorate of Government Accounting (Digecog), the initiative aims to strengthen transparency and efficiency within the public health network. The implementation of a Public Accounting System will provide standardized financial processes and reliable financial statements in compliance with government accounting laws. The SNS will identify hospitals with the necessary financial and administrative maturity to undergo this transition while maintaining technical supervision and oversight.
