National Heavy Vehicle Regulator launches digital tools for HVA transition

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has launched two new digital tools to assist transport operators in transitioning to the Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (HVA) scheme. These tools, available on the NHVR website, include the Risk Register Builder and the NHVAS to HVA Gap Analysis Tool.

According to NHVR Chief Operations Officer Paul Salvati, the tools are intended to help businesses understand HVA requirements and strengthen their Safety Management Systems (SMS). The Risk Register Builder specifically helps operators and Chain of Responsibility parties create business-specific risk registers by connecting hazards and controls from the NHVR’s Master Code of Practice to a structured, customizable process.

The digital resources aim to simplify the complexities of identifying risks and documenting controls, particularly for new operators or those establishing an SMS for the first time.
