National Highways appoints WSP and KPMG for EV charging support

WSP and KPMG have been appointed to provide technical and advisory support to National Highways. This partnership aims to assist the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) with strategic charging infrastructure activities across England’s Strategic Road Network.

The initiative focuses on improving access to reliable ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging at critical locations, including motorway service areas. The project addresses practical challenges such as electricity network connections, delivery readiness, costs, and customer experience to facilitate the transition to zero-emission transport.

In addition to passenger vehicles, the program includes provisions for future electric heavy goods vehicle (eHGV) charging solutions, which is intended to support the decarbonization of the freight and logistics sector.
