National Housing Fund adopts plan to tackle Ghana housing finance
The National Housing Fund (NHF), alongside financial institutions, housing developers, and various stakeholders, has adopted a resolution to address housing finance challenges in Ghana. The commitments were finalized during the National Conference on Housing Finance 2026, held in Accra on October 7-8.
Under the theme ‘Adequate Housing for All: Innovative Financing for Ghana’s Housing Future’, the conference brought together government representatives, regulators, labor organizations, academia, and civil society. The participants adopted a communiqué pledging to implement practical solutions to improve housing access.
The NHF has committed to leading efforts to expand access to finance, promote innovative funding models, and mobilize private investment into the sector. Key strategies include developing risk-sharing, guarantee, and de-risking mechanisms to assist both developers and prospective homeowners. Additionally, the initiative aims to promote affordable housing products for workers in both the formal and informal sectors, while supporting social housing for vulnerable and underserved populations.
